A visit to the Leighton fieldsite

JP Renaud | September 20 2007

Yesterday I went to the Leighton fieldsite in Shropshire with a colleague, Katerina Michaelides. I am glad that I was not alone as it was very depressing to find that one of the enclosures (where two fairly expensive dataloggers are located) had been badly damaged by animals; the field site is located in a field used by cows and horses. The animals managed to break the fence, chew a few wires and just make a mess of everything.

We fixed as much as we could and actually, we did quite well considering the conditions. Most of the sensors are wired up again and I need to go back in a few weeks to check the dataloggers are working fine.

Oh well… That’s field work for you, a lot less “predictable” that computer modelling!
